Embracing the Creative Flow: 3 Strategies to Defeat Creative Blocks!

You know that feeling of being stuck? No fresh thoughts, no good ideas will come to mind. Here are three of the tips I've tried in the past, that proved to be very helpful.

The PIIB (pinterest intuition inspiration board)

  1. Open Pinterest and create a new board called inspiration.

  2. Set a timer to 15 Minutes

  3. Browse and pin EVERYTHING that appeals to you on your new board.

  4. Look at it whenever you feel stuck and get inspired.

The inspirational photo walk

Go outside, take your phone and make a lot of pictures of everything you find interesting. When you get home, look through those pictures and make notes about what stands out to you. Are there any colours, themes or objects you like... 📷

The "just do it"-principle

Just start creating something. It can be anything, really. Do it for the sole purpose of creating it - not for the end result. Get your brain into this creation mode that unlocks creative flow. The more you just make, create, do the faster ideas will start to come to your mind. 🎨

I created a variety of those colourful images using acrylics and a palette knife. It was a very intuitive process and experimenting with the colours and different textures really helped me to get some inspiration for paintings I wanted to do.

Have you tried any of those methods and did they work? What are your Go-tos when being creatively blocked? Let me know in the comments.
