I painted this illustration with all the strong women around me in my mind, and it is a tribute to all the creative, courageous and amazing women out there, doing their thing.

For far too long, we have been growing up in a society with patriarchal structures that make us believe we have to be rivals and competitors. Resulting from this, we see women holding each other down, being envious and throwing shade in each other’s directions.

I don’t want that any more. Not for me and not for my daughter. I want to be surrounded by women who lift each other up, who support and encourage each other to grow stronger, bigger and more fearless every day. I want my daughter to grow up with compassionate girlfriends and a loving, encouraging female community, so she has the confidence to chase after her dreams.

We need to stand together, and we need to hold each other accountable for spreading love and compassion. For every woman - mum, manager, trans, minority, teacher, politician, homeless, gay, on top of her game, at the bottom of her life…. We are many, and if we take charge, we will change things.
